The Palmetto Professional Society of Charleston

…was founded in July 2004 in the spirit of establishing, for young professionals, an opportunity for organized, progressive, and sustaining involvement in the local Charleston community. The ideals of leadership, dedication, and vision were instrumental in shaping and guiding the organization into the viable entity that it has become, and are evidenced in each of its members. Looking towards the future, these same ideals will surely continue to guide the Society's involvement in effecting positive change in the lives of its members and throughout the Lowcountry.

To date, the roster of the Society boasts almost 50 members. The membership consists of young professionals representing local industries including Real Estate, Development, Banking, Financial Planning, Accounting, Marketing,
Advertising, Hospitality, Food and Beverage, Medicine, Law, International Trade, Publishing, and other fields.

The synergies created through the professional and social networks within the Society have a far-reaching influence to create real impact within the community. Legally formed as a nonprofit entity a year after its inception, the Society has given tens of thousands of dollars to local charities including:

  • Save the Light — dedicated to saving the historic Morris Island Lighthouse

  • Happy Days and Special Times — helping local children diagnosed with cancer

  • Shriner's Hospital — helping child burn victims throughout the world

  • Communities in Schools — local dropout prevention program

  • Joe's Reef — memorial artificial reef project

  • Tello Vasquez Scholarship Fund — memorial Citadel scholarship fund initiative
